The 26th annual Malta Open Championships kicked off this Wednesday 14th June, at the Eden SuperBowl. The 5 day championship will see approximately 100 tenpin bowlers compete for a minimum guaranteed cash prize of €10,000 and Casino Malta Vouchers worth €10,000.
The Director of Marketing for the Eden Leisure Group, Kate de Cesare inaugurated the annual championship on Wednesday 14th June at noon just before the kick off of the first squad at 1pm.
This year’s participants are travelling to Malta from no fewer than 15 countries. The countries represented are England, Sweden, Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, France, Norway, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Netherlands, Switzerland, Wales and of course, Malta.
The format of the tournament starts off with a twelve-game qualifying round, where 36 bowlers will qualify for the next final stages. The next 4 final stages on Sunday afternoon will determine who will be the 2 bowlers to go head-to-head in the Grand Final.
This year’s edition is organised in collaboration with Casino Malta and Cisk Farsons.
