Lucia Di Lammermoor-LIVE From The Royal Opera House

Diana Damrau Lucia di Lammermoor c TANJA NIEMANN

Lucia Di Lammermoor has nothing to lose but her mind in Donizettis Italian masterpiece. Broadcast Live from the Royal Opera House, Lucia Di Lammermoor is coming exclusively to Eden Cinemas on Monday the 25 of April at 8.15pm. In this landmark Royal Opera premiere, Katie Mitchell’s new interpretation is a dark drama of female oppression and male domination

Set in the 1840s, the production draws out the gothic themes of the opera with Diana Damrau singing the role of Lucia, who is prevented from marrying the man she loves to save her family’s fortune. The score of vocal athletics and breathtaking high notes is sure to send a shiver down the spine.

The opera has not been seen at the Royal Opera House in more than a decade, so this new production by Katie Mitchell will be a particularly important and exciting event. The use of a split set unambiguously shows the trilling elements of the plot which is often kept off stage.

The Royal Opera House brings tragic Italian dramma to the stage, while continuing to lead the way in Opera, ballet, Music and Dance in cinemas across the globe. With enhanced sound and dimmed lighting available in Eden Cinemas’ multipurpose theatre, the audience will be transported to the Royal Opera House itself.

Tickets for Lucia Di Lammermoor are available at the fraction of the overseas prices. Each ticket is 18 per adult and 10 for children aged 16 and under. Making the evening that more special, the audience will be offered a complimentary glass of wine and complimentary parking at Eden car park.
