Mediterranean Bowling Championships Malta 2019 Press Conference

Bowling Competiton

The 22nd edition of the Mediterranean Bowling Championships will be held in Malta for the 3rd time in 2019. To kick the event off, a press conference was held today at the Eden Superbowl, with details addressed by Parliament Secretary Dr. Clifton Grima, Mr Paul Baldacchino, the president of the Malta Tenpin Bowling Association and Mr Kevin De Cesare Junior, Eden Leisure Group Director.

This edition of the Championships has attracted a record number of participants, with 16 countries taking part, the biggest number in the competition so far.

Paul Baldacchino shared that the event itself has attracted attention to the world of bowling. The teams flying over to Malta this year are a representation of the kind of quality the Mediterranean has to offer when it comes to this sport. The team representing Malta this year is the same one that represented Malta in Turkey, during the 21st edition of the Mediterranean Bowling Championships.

Mr Baldacchino went on to explain how Malta has won its fair share of bronze, silver and gold medals during these championships and hopes that there are more wins in store for Malta’s team. He ended by thanking Eden Leisure group for allowing our participants to train and for hosting local tournaments that served as training for our teams.

Dr Clifton Grima expressed the importance of a sport like bowling, which allows a person not only to feel physically better, but also to think better. When we look at the sport as a whole, we can appreciate the sacrifice that such organisations behind these events make and hope that these organisations keep on encouraging kids and adults to partake in such championships. Despite being a small sport when compared to others in Malta, it still holds a lot of importance, and this is something we have to keep in mind moving forward.
