Dedicated to one of the most exclusive temples of music and performing arts, Teatro alla Scala – The Temple of Wonders, brings history and life to the big screen. Showing exclusively at The Eden Cinemas from the 15th to the 17th of April, learn about the spirit of the people who inhabited one of the greatest theatres in the world.
Discover all the emotion absorbed by the velvet curtain drapes, the wooden stage and the orchestra seats which are still there today. The film, accompanied by the voice of narrator Sandro Lombardi, takes us down every corridor to soak in 237 years of history. This will give the audience the once in a lifetimes opportunity to experience a majestic succession of discoveries and revelations.
As film authors Luca Lucini and Silvia Corbetta explained: “It was immediately clear that if we wanted to discover the secrets of almost 250 years of the history of Milan’s Teatro alla Scala, we would have to tell the story of what the Scala actually is: a ‘factory of emotions’, a unique place where passion, sacrifice, talent and dedication come together as one.”
The film tells the story of the Theatre, which has featured the greatest names in the history of music. Together these names made the theatre a legend. These were Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Arturo Toscanini, Maria Callas, Luchino Visconti and in more recent years Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Muti. Evoking the sense of the sacred, the theatre was also home to Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, Mirella Frenu, Placido Domingo, Carla Fracci and many more!
The film will transport the audience back in time, through reconstructions from various eras, revisiting all the changes in customs, relationships and rivalries between the great celebrities, told by the people who knew and worked with them. Follow the story to the 7th December, with ‘La Prima’, the opening night in the theatre, when the curtain rises and sprinkled over our heads, comes the stardust of an Italian-made miracle.
