Eden Leisure Group Merging Community Work And Green Initiatives

This summer so far has been a continuous effort to become an increasingly more sustainable company for Eden Leisure Group

In an effort to drive its sustainability vision further, 2022 has seen the Eden Leisure Group repurposing much of its hotel stock with the intention of assisting the community as well as the environment.  In the last couple of months, Eden donated 47 hotel-room television sets to the Malta Hospice as well as 140 PV panels to the Institute for Sustainable Energy to lengthen the service-life of these products.

This Summer, the group has donated several thousand pieces of used but in good condition linen, towels and bathrobes to several charities such as Dar tal-Providenza; Fondazzjoni Sebh, Malta Hospice as well as many individuals in need.  In doing so, hundreds of kilos of fabric were saved from landfills and used to help the community. In an effort to further minimize waste, the group has collected and donated all its partly-used hotel bathroom amenities, such as mini shampoos, conditioners, soaps and lotions, to homes and individuals in need – in doing so, hundreds of kilos of waste has been saved so far.  In an effort to become more sustainable, the group shall be soon replacing all these amenities with refillable receptacles in the near future – in the meantime these items will continue to be collected and redistributed.

Eden Leisure COO, Kate de Cesare stated ‘ESG is more than a buzz word at Eden Leisure.  We don’t simply want to green-wash with a few good deeds, but we are making active strides in becoming a more sustainable company.  I encourage other local businesses to prioritise sustainability, in doing so, aside from becoming a good corporate citizen, there are many opportunities to be found.’
