Based on Goethe’s novel The Sorrows of Young Werther, Massenet’s opera tells the story of the poet Werther’s hopeless love for Charlotte, who is committed to another man. This dramatic tale was transformed into a beautiful four-act opera by Jules Massenet, and will be broadcast live at Eden Cinemas on Monday 27th June at 8pm.
The Royal Opera’s heart-breaking Werther is brought to life, through music full of lyrical beauty, passion and emotional fervor. Conducted by Antonio Pappano, the production stars two of opera’s most in demand talents. Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo will be performing Werther, and Joyce DiDonato as Charlotte.
Known for his illustrious career in French cinema, Beonit Jacquot’s production is one of the world’s leading operas. Performed in the iconic Covent Garden theatre, it is it will undoubtedly be an outstanding performance of traditional Opera.
Tickets for Werther are available at the fraction of overseas prices. Each ticket is €18 per adult and €10 for children aged 16 and under. This will include a free glass of wine and complimentary parking at the Eden Car Park. An encore performance will be held on the 3rd of July at 3pm. Tickets for this show will be priced at €15 for adults and €10 for children under the age of 16. This will include free parking at the Eden Car Park.
